Introduction to SAE Flanges

What are SAE Flanges? If this question confuses you, this is the right place to get answersIntroduction :.Flanges SAE is a range of hydraulic flange that is made in accordance with SAE J518 standards. The acronym SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. These clamps are used on hydraulic systems in many areas (shipbuilding, mobile hydraulic equipment, machine tools them, earthmoving machinery, etc ...) and where there is passage of oil under pressureequipment :.Flanges are made from normalized forgings and are generally of two types of materials, ST52.3 steel and stainless steel AISI SS316LSizes :.SAE Flanges come in two series, Code 61 (3000 series) and Code 62 (00 series). For the 61 code (3000 # series), they are available in all nominal sizes from DN10 (3/8 ") and DN125 (5"). For code 62 (# 00 series), they are available in all nominal sizes from DN10 (3/8 ") and DN80 (3")Operating pressureThe beaches standard pressure of 34-345 bar code 61 (series 3000) and 0 to 414 bar for code 62 (00 series). Please note that the flanges of combinations of pressure information and the connected equipment can vary from each other. For example: if a pipe connected to the flange has a lower working pressure, it will result in an overall lower working pressure of the system. Therefore, please consider the lower pressure than the maximum working pressure of this combinationHow SAE Flanges work :.A complete set includes a flat side flange and a flange side o-ring. Side flange o-ring groove contains a seat for placing a rubber O-ring (normally NBR material). The assembly forms a seal between a flat surface and the O-ring held in a recessed circular groove in the other half. Tightening the bolts draw the two halves together and compresses the O-ring.Because of this use of the O-ring, flange with O-ring has an advantage over the metal to metal flanges like flanges all metals are more prone to leaks because they must be tightened to a torque range higher, even closer. This makes the metal to metal flanges more prone to strip threads or crack.A complete set of clamp is tightened using hollow head spring screws and washers according to the recommended torque. The screw lengths are generally shorter than the SAE flange overall length but this is normal in accordance with the SAE standard J518. Moreover, according to SAE J518, there are no requirements for the hex nuts to attach the flangesConfigurations of SAE Flanges :.commonly used types of connections consist of: Weld In / Socket Weld, Weld On / Butt Weld, NPT, BSP threaded, Blind Flanges, Flanges split. On request, flanges can be supplied with screws, washers and NBR / Viton O-rings.Brands Flanges:A highly recommended brand for Flanges SAE Oleo Tecnica. Oleo Tecnica is an Italian manufacturer specialized in Flanges SAE. Oleo Tecnica was founded in 1976 and has over 36 years of specialized experience in manufacturing flanges. Other well established brands include Parker Hannifin and Stauff.
