silicone tubes are used in a multitude of applications ranging from automotive, food processing, medical, industrial, etc. The silicone rubber versatility makes it suitable for use in many places. The pipes are commonly used in intake systems, air coolers, etc. They are available in a number of large and small diameters can be ordered in many cuts and bents.
A silicone hoses order does not take too long to make because the production process has been customized by their manufacturers. The manufacturing process requires the right skills, tools, equipment and the right time. Here is a detailed overview of the silicone pipe manufacturing process:
Step 1: Create a chuck tool
A mandrel tool is a shaping tool which is made of metal and is hollow. It is used to bend the silicone rubber in the form and the desired diameter of the silicone tube. It is commonly used in many other applications such as blow molding of the glass.
The first step is to make the tool (s) of pipe-shaped core (s) of silicon. This is accomplished by manipulating the steel into the desired shape of the pipe. These tools are typically stored by the manufacturers in thousands of shapes and sizes. Dimensions are available on their website or product catalog
Step 2 :. The choice of raw materials
The starting materials are selected specifically for manufacturing silicone tubes. These include silicone rubber, colored pigments and reinforcing fabrics. Pipes are multi-layered and reinforcement fabrics are used to give them strength
Step 3 :. Milling and calenders
The silicone rubber compound and the color pigment are mixed together in a mill. This process is called "milling". It takes about half an hour in the mill to produce a silicone rubber compound pigmented color.
The colored silicone rubber compound is placed in a calendering machine. The machine supports the compound between rollers to make it into thin sheets. The calendering machine then presses the flattened compound on the fabric reinforcement. Now, the equipment is ready to hand build the pipes
Step 4 :. Cutting & Rolling
Thin sheets are cut and stacked to roll. Manufacturers are launching thin sheets into tubes. It is necessary to maintain the correct thickness of the tubes. A finished tube should have the right number of reinforcing plies. However, these tubes are ready to be used for the pipe construction.
The silicone tubes are carefully pushed onto the mandrel tools to give the desired shape. Air bubbles or joints are smoothed. silicone tubes which have joints or elbows additional need extra care to push the shaped tubes
Step 5 :. curing oven, cooling and stripping
Silicone pipes are then cured in the oven, then cooled. This gives them the desired shape. To remove them, they are stripped from the mold in a quick motion and put in the washing hose for cleaning. The pipes are then sent for cutting and inspection
Step 6 :. Trimming & Inspection
Before cutting the pipe is scored when the board must be cut. The edges are then cut using a fine edges machine. After cutting the silicone tubes are sent for inspection of quality. Once they are approved, they are ready for shipment to the customer.
