The difference between the load resistors and Decoders

In the world of lighting spare parts, there is a couple of terms that are thrown around by consumers and similar retailers, but they may not always be the right or definitions used in the context correctly. These words are constantly read especially if you have a European vehicle because these things are mainly used to stop the error codes and messages appear and to some extent stop flickering issues. load resistors and decoders are the two primary words that are thrown around, but they are sometimes easily confused with another. This article will provide you with a clear distinction between these two easily confused words that are used to solve the same problem, but in different ways.

load resistors are electrical components that provide electrical resistance in a circuit, thus providing "load" on the circuit. With LED lights, low power consumption at the circuit causes problems such as error messages appearing indicating that the bulb does not work on some cars or cause problems such as hyper-flash (rapid flashing) flashing. load resistors create a load on the circuit that tricks the vehicle thinking that the LED bulb is drawing the same amount of energy than incandescent bulbs from a plant that gets rid of error messages and problems hyper-flashing. The electrical circuit can be considered a road fast moving and load resistance as an accident on the highway causing traffic to slow down considerably; while the traffic flow is always stable, he slowed as any other part of the highway at the site of the accident.

A decoder is a component with an electrical capacitor within that stores electricity and releases a rapid steady pace. With LED lights and low power consumption, set top boxes are used to mimic the way the incandescent bulb of the plant behaves. The energy storage in the decoder also creates a load on the circuit due to the storage of electricity. LED decoders are mainly used with HID conversion kits and LED daytime running lights. Decoders can be considered as a water dam where much of the water is maintained behind it, but it is slowly released downstream so that it does not flood the upstream portion.

Although these two things serve the same purpose, one may be better suited for a task to another. For example, load resistors are better suited to stop hyper-flashing in flashing while the decoders are not. Decoders are better suited for the use of HID conversion kits on European vehicles to avoid the error messages. However, these lights can be used to reduce or eliminate flicker and prevent error messages on some applications. Although there is no defined use for each component, it is commonly accepted that the load resistors are used for LED applications 0% of the time and that decoders are used for HID applications 60-80 % of the time and there have been cases where the two components are used. Whatever application you are working, it is always best to check with the retailer on which one would work best for their product.
